2 Months Old

Ella Jae-

You are now 2 months old and we love you more than words can describe! You are as beautiful as ever. Your big blue eyes shine bright. Sometimes I call you "bright eyes!" You are a star! You always steal the show no matter where we are; I can't take you anywhere little girly! When we are with family, they call dibs on you right when we walk threw the door. Everyone wants to look at you and love on you. When we are out and about people say, "look at all that that hair...look at those big blue eyes!!" You have not lost one hair. Some said you may lose all the hair God gave you at birth, but nope, it is still all there! And Mommy likes it so much because I get to put so many cute bows in it, and I pray that you will continue to let me as you grow bigger! You now have little rolls on your legs and Mommy nibbles on your little chubby legs. I even have to make sure I clean between all your little roll creases when you take a bath and when your diaper is changed. You stare at your Mommy, smile, coo, and occasionally laugh, and you hold tight to my hair or shirt. You are Daddy's little girl, no doubt about it. You like to dance with Daddy and do "workouts" with him! You LOVE LOVE LOVE your Poppy! He talks to you so sweetly and you eat up his every word. You are in awe of him, and he can always make you smile. He already spoils you rotten each time you are with him. Ella Jae, you are the light of our life! We can't believe that you have only been in our life for 2 months because it feels like we have loved you our whole life!!

What you are up to:
  • You weigh 9 lbs 12 oz (25 percentile) and are 23 in long (75 percentile). You are tall and slim :)

  • You are still bottle fed. We have had to change your formula 3 times to find one right for your little belly. You drink Similac sensitive, lactose free. You drink 4-5 oz every 3-4 hrs. You are a messy eater and kind of a slow one, too, haha!

  • You are a pretty good sleeper. On a typical night you sleep 6-7 hrs straight!! We lay you down to sleep and you usually drift to sleep right away. You still sleep in your pack-n-play in Mommy and Daddy's room, but we plan to transition you to your crib very soon. We still swaddle you to sleep (you really like it!). You like sleeping with your hands by your face, mostly recently, you sleep with your fist infront of your mouth.

  • You got your first cold right before you turned 2 mths old and that has affected your sleep and Mommy's.
  • You began to cry/scream/turn bright red, like something was hurting you, during the late afternoon and the doctor diagnosed you with a mild case of colic, but it is so mild that it seems to be corrected by your formula change. You would scream at night around 8-11. You could be calmed by lots of movement and holding.

  • The doc also said that when you cry during feedings it is because of reflux. So he said we could give you a teaspoon of maalox before each feeding.
  • You smile, laugh and coo. Although, you make us work really hard to do all 3!

  • You have rolled on your side twice. You can scoot across your entire pack-n-play and when we put you in the middle of a blanket on the floor, you can scoot completely off the blanket onto the floor. You're long little legs are so strong that you lock your legs and stand! Your strength is amazing!

  • You love when your diaper is changed/being nakey. Your just look around and you smile the most during that time. It is never a quick change because we talk and sing together. You have gotten better when your clothes are changed, too.

  • You don't like your swing, but you do like your bouncey seat.

  • Mommy and Daddy let Mem and Poppy babysit you while they went on a date for the first time.

Sickly house

I started getting sick on Friday and I thought it was just sinuses. But evidently it was a full out cold because Ella Jae has it too :( Last night she started acting different. She wasn't sleeping and she is a VERY good sleeper. She was coughing, sneezing, and making like a choking noise and couldn't catch her breathe. Bless her little heart. She finally fell asleep on me and stayed asleep in the car on the way home from mom's. She continued to sleep once we got home and then she woke up about 11 pm screaming. She wouldn't eat and seemed very frustrated. And that continues ALL night. Sweet thing, she didn't sleep for more than an hour. She threw up twice and I was panicing! I kept her head elevated because she seemed to get the most comfort that way. So when 6 am rolled around, I knew I was taking her to the doctor. So went this morning when they opened, after calling first, offices seem to be sticklers about that. But the pediactric office we take Ella Jae is soooo good! Everyone in there is so sweet! So it ends up, Ella Jae had my cold and he didn't prescribe any medicine. The doc said it just needs to run its course....tear.....Ella Jae is clearly frustrated that she can't breathe and I use the bulb to clear her nose and it seems to help a little. She is resting more today than last night. I pray that she will have a better night tonight...poor little thing! And gets better very very soon!

Our Weekend

Once again our weekend went by way too quickly! Friday night was spent by Adam taking care of Ella Jae and me resting because I have a sinus/cold thing. And it also consisted of a late night sushi run after Ella Jae went to sleep. Saturday, Adam had to work and I rested when Ella Jae did. When Adam got home I started getting ready because we had a date night scheduled! We took Ella Jae to mom and dad's and we headed to Wild Wings, the movies to see Date Night, Cold Stone for icecream and to Target. We had a wonderful time!! It was really fun and made me realize how much we took "our time" for granted before Ella Jae. It is little things like going on a date and having time together as couple that you don't really think about when you prepare for a baby but you desperately need once baby arrives. Sunday, we went to church and to grandma's for lunch. Then Ella Jae and I headed to Erica's housewarming party. The guys came later only to eat ha! Then just the girls went to Target...my happy place :) It was nice being girly at Target! We all headed to mom and dad's to eat supper and watch a movie. Sundays are always bitter-sweet because I love Sundays because it is such a family day and we always have fun, but it is sad because a new work week begins and Addie has to leave me and Ella Jae behind as he leaves for work :(
Adam and I on our way to date night!

Ella Jae ready for church on Sunday! I love her sleepy eyes :)

Colic

Ella Jae was diagnosed with a mild case of colic. She has these screaming fits anywhere between 8 pm-11 pm and sometimes while eating. The only thing that seems to soothe her is being held upright and lots and lots of movement. But despite all of this, she still sleeps anywhere from 4-7 hours straight during the night. Fortunately, the doc said that her case was very mild and it might could be handled with just a formula change. So, we switched her formula for the third time. The new formula seemed to give her immediate relief. So I pray that it continues to give Ella Jae relief. It breaks my heart to see her in pain and hear that little scream of hers.

What I'll see this weekend...

We are going to Hilton Head for the weekend! I am so excited! The last time we went to HHI was in January for our "Babymoon."

Notice the big belly :) And the scarf...it was rather chilly! But hopefully we will have beautiful warm spring weather! I am ready to get my read on by the beach with this book...

And I am ready to hit all of our little favorites like, frozen custard, Guiseppies, Seapines...and the outlets, ofcourse! It is going to be so fun the experience HHI with Ella Jae for the first time, too! We are going with my Mama and cousin! So I am looking forward to some quality family time on HHI!

Our Weekend

Another weekend flew by...tear! Friday night, once Adam got home we hit up Wendy's and went to Mom and Dad's. The whole gang was there plus some because they had band practice for Church. It was a fun night with mom, Keila and Erica! Everyone was loving on Ella Jae! Saturday, Adam had to work and once he got home we went downtown for lunch and walked around. Then we came home, and Adam did some yard work. I got E to sleep and went out for a pedi!! Then we got ready to go to Dane and Keila's for dinner. Thank God for great friends! We had such a fun time and a very yummy dinner! I took some pictures only to realize my sd card was NOT in my camera :( We stayed there a lot later than intended because we were just having so much fun!! Sunday, we went to Church and then to Grandma's for lunch. Then we headed over to Mom and Dad's to watch the Master's. After the Master's we met the whole family at Marble Slab for icecream! We have begun out summer tradition of going for icecream on Sunday nights....so exciting and I always look forward to icecream!!! We had a nice weekend and the weather was perfect, but it went by way too fast! Now only 4 more days until the weekend begins again :-P

Smile!

Ella Jae smiled at her Mommy today! I was able to make Ella Jae smile over and over while playing "pee-pie" and "patty-cake!" It was the sweetest thing! I cried lol! I snapped picture of E's sweet smile with my phone but ensure of how to post them :(
